Included here are two small archipelagos around the two main islands of São Tomé (S) and Príncipe (P) situated in the Gulf of Guinea on the coast of west Africa (officially the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe). Other islands include Annobón (A) and Bioko (B). The flowering plants are annotated to show their distribution among the various islands listed above but not the lower vascular plants.
Of the endemic vascular plants so far recorded there are about 148 species in 91 genera and 46 families. There is 1 endemic genus (marked red) but no endemic families.
