Summary
Included here is the lowlands of the lower courses of the Ganges and Brahmaputra, the lowlands of Orissa north of the Mahanadi River and the tropical parts of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura. A major part is the Bengal Delta, one of the largest in the World.
Of the endemic and near endemic vascular plants so far recorded there are 82 species in 73 genera and 44 families but no endemic genera or families. However, further information is required because endemic genera have apparently been recorded.
