Summary
Included here is the British Isles which comprises Great Britain, Ireland and over six thousand smaller islands.
Of the endemic plants so far recorded there about 676 species, subspecies and varieties in 36 genera and 21 families but no endemic genera. However, as pointed out by Rich et al. (1999) most of the British endemics comprise critical taxa in the genera Alchemilla, Euphrasia, Hieracium, Limonium, Rubus, Sorbus and Taraxacum.
