Summary
Included here is most of the Caucasus Mountains except the western parts, which forms part of the Euxine-Colchic zone. Also excluded are the arid southwestern and southern parts. In the north it extends to include the premontane parts of the Kuban Lowlands, the Stauropol Hills, Tersko-Sunzhenskian Hills, all Dagestan and central Transcaucasia.
Of the endemic and near endemic plants so far recorded there are about 1331 species in 339 genera and 64 families. There are 20 endemic genera (marked red) but no endemic families. However, there are reported to be about 1600 endemic species so further information is required.
