Summary
Included here are the Fiji Islands (such as Viti Levu and Vanua Levu) together with hundreds of neighbouring islands such as the Samoa Islands, Tonga Islands, Horn Islands, Rotuma Islands, Uvea Island and Niue Island.
Of the endemic plants so far recorded there are about 432 species, subspecies and varieties in 252 genera and 95 families. There were thought to be 16 endemic or near endemic genera (marked red) and one endemic family, Degeneriaceae. However, there now appears to be just 4 strict endemic genera: Degeneria (Degeneriaceae), Gillespiea (Rubiaceae), Hedstromia (Rubiaceae) and Squamellaria (Rubiaceae)
Most of the species listed here are endemic to Fiji. Those endemic to the Tonga Islands are denoted by T and those to the Samoan Islands by S.
