Included here are the Kerguelen Islands, Marion Island, Prince Edward Islands, Crozet Islands, Heard Islands, McDonald Island, Saint Paul Island and Amsterdam Island in the southern Indian Ocean.

Of the endemic vascular plants so far recorded there are 13 species in 9 genera and 8 families but no endemic genera.
