Summary
Included here are the islands known as the Lesser Antilles most of which form the eastern boundary of the Caribbean Sea with the Atlantic Ocean to the east, while the remainder are located in the southern Caribbean just north of South America. The main islands include Anguilla, Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, Dominica, Grenado, Guadeloupe, Montserrate, Nevis, St Kitts, St Lucia, St Vincent, Tobago and Trinidad.
Of the endemic vascular plants so far recorded there are about 96 species in 80 genera and 47 families. There is 1 endemic genus (marked red) but no endemic families. However, the family Cyclanthaceae is confined to the neotropics.
