Summary
Included here is the Mariana Islands (also know as the Marianas) in the north-western Pacific. They consists of two subgroups, the Northern Marianas, a group of ten volcanic main islands, currently uninhabited, and the Southern Marianas, a group of five coralline islands (Aguijan, Guam, Rota, Saipan and Tinian). These form part of the larger island group of Micronesia.
Of the endemic vascular plants so far recorded there are about 55 species in 44 genera and 27 families. There is also 1 endemic genus (marked red) but no endemic families. This list has recently been revised by Costion & Lorence (2012).
