Summary
Included here are the Marquesas Islands located in the southern Pacific where they form part of French Polynesia.
Of the endemic vascular plants so far recorded there are about 156 species in 69 genera and 45 families. The flora also includes 5 endemic or near endemic genera (marked red) but some occur throughout French Polynesa. There are no endemic families.
The distribution of Marquesan endemics amongst the various Marquesas islands is abbreviated under each species in the alphabetical list using the following codes: Eiao (E), Fatu Hiva (FHi), Fatu Huku (FHu), Hatutaa (H), Hiva Oa (HO), Mohotani (M), Motu Iti (MI), Nuku Hiva (NH), Tahuata (T), Ua Huka (UH), Ua Pou (UP).
