Summary

Included here are the extensive grassy plains east of the Rocky Mountains. Its boundary extends north to the coniferous forests of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, east to the deciduous forests of the Appalachians and south and southwest to the Sonoran desert.

Of the endemic or near endemic vascular plants so far recorded there are about 34 species in 20 genera and 10 families. There is 1 endemic or near endemic genus (marked red) but no endemic families.
