Summary
Included here are the pampas and campos regions of South America which comprises the central parts of Argentina, all of Uraguay and the southern extremities of Brazil.
Of the endemic and near endemic vascular plants so far recorded there are about 2051 species in 618 genera and 120 families. There are 9 endemic genera (marked red) but no endemic families. However, the Alstroemeriaceae is confined to Central and South America, Martyniaceae to the neotropics, Tropaeolaceae to Mexico and South America and Vivianiaceae to South America.
