Summary
Included here is New Guinea, the Aru Islands, Misool Island, Salawati, Weigeo, the Schouten Islands, the Trobriand Isands, Murua Island, the D’Entrecasteaux Islands and the Louisaide Archipeligo.
Of the endemic and near endemic vascular plants so far recorded there are about 1972 species in 312 genera and 109 families. There are 38 endemic genera (marked red) but no endemic families. However, there is reported to be over 8000 endemic plants species so further information is required.
