Summary
Included here is most of Szechwan (west of the Szechwan Basin) including the Szechwan Alps and the Yunnan Plateau together with mountains bordering northeastern Burma, northern Laos and northwest Tonkin.
Of the endemic and near endemic vascular plants so far recorded there are about 649 species in 400 genera and 117 families. There are 36 endemic or near endemic genera (marked red) but no endemic families. However, the Paulowniaceae are mainly native to China extending south to northern Laos and Vietnam and the Pentaphragmataceae are confined to southeast Asia.
