Summary
Included here is a coastal strip in east Africa extending from southern Somalia to the mouth of the Limpopo River and varies in width from about 50-100 km.
Of the endemic and near endemic vascular plants so far recorded there are about 123 species in 98 genera and 45 families. There are 6 endemic genera (marked red) but no endemic families but species of the family Achariaceae appear to be mainly confined to Africa. However, there are reported to be several hundred endemic species for this biozone so further information is required.
